Fort Worth Stock Yards

If you have never been to Fort Worth, a visit to the Stock Yards is worth a look. Twice a day they herd a group of Longhorns through the street. There are plenty of cool shops to check out along with a couple museums and of course great food and drink.

I had a quick layover here Tuesday evening and stayed at the Hyatt Regency hotel. We didn’t get in until late that evening and only had a couple hours Wednesday morning to grab a few photos. My last duty station in the US Navy happened to be here in the Fort Worth area and we lived here up until mid 2003 before moving to Portugal. The Stock Yards was a favorite place for us to bring guests and our two boys enjoyed seeing the cowboys and cattle too.

Hopefully I’ve captured the essence of this historic area and maybe someday you too will have a chance.

This is Big Jake. He’s, of course, a Texas Longhorn. Even though his horns can be menacing, the Texas Longhorn has a gentle disposition.
